Created in 1998, the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) represented a broad range of groups within the horse-racing industry, including horse owners, racetracks, breeders, trainers, jockeys, and offtrack betting organizations, among others. The association provided a national structure for the industry as it worked to raise awareness of the sport, to increase attendance and revenues, and to take maximum advantage of other collective business opportunities.
