Every trade has its own private language, from the Catholic Church to account planning. The research business seems to have more unfathomable jargon than just about anything else. Jeremy Bullmore once said that all you had to do was invent a miracle, a proprietary and inexplicable though strangely useful research technique lets call it 'The X Factor' and, with the right sort of promotion, the world would beat a path to your door, clutching cheques.
