In 1991 press display media costs (in real terms) were 24 per cent above what they had been in 1981, and the figure for TV transmission charges was 55 per cent up - though when allowance is made for the increases in the physical volumes of advertising delivered the press figure becomes 7 per cent and the TV figure 18 per cent.
