Harmonisation of demographics in the new Europe

For ten years, ESOMAR working parties have addressed the formidable problem of reconciling existing national demographic practice with the need for common data across the EC. Having identified 15 major areas normally included in classifications, methods of reconciling, e.g. age, socioeconomic classes and occupation have been evolved, and trialled in Spain and several other countries. This shows that it is now possible for data to be collected and analysed according to local norms, to the practice of other countries, and in future as the groundwork for a common Europe-wide standard....
