BACKGROUND

DStv (digital satellite television) is a pay TV service that was launched in November 1995 into South Africa and certain neighbouring territories that are also covered by the Ku-band signal. At the time of launch, the service offered sixteen video channels, forty audio music channels (DMX) and a few radio channels.

New channels have been constantly added to the bouquet since launch, and there are now over thirty channels, the forty DMX audio music channels and seven radio channels...
