When Tom Knox, chairman of MullenLowe London, became IPA President in 2015, he put two big items on his agenda – diversity and brand purpose. In his inaugural speech he quoted Bill Bernbach: "All of us who professionally use the mass media are the shapers of society. We can vulgarize that society. We can brutalize it. Or we can help lift it onto a higher level."

Just over a year later, Knox chaired a London event with the title "Conscious Capitalism: Helping brands achieve profit with purpose"....
