Three years ago, Gartner analyst Laura McLellan predicted that by 2017, the chief marketing officer would be spending more on technology (more specifically marketing technology or martech) than the chief information officer (CIO). If there was one statistic that seemed to catch everyone's fancy at the IAMAI's 2015 Marketing Conclave, held in Mumbai in June, it would be this. It was also the question posed to the panel by the moderator in a session that explored the changing role of the CMO.
