When it comes to tracking global consumer trends, the values shared by different groups are among the key indicators of where society is going.

That was the general view of a presentation by Joe Staton, a director at GfK MOI, a unit of the market research giant that focuses on market opportunities and innovation. He was speaking at Customers Exposed, an event organized by the UK's Market Research Society and held in London in October 2014.
