Amnesty International is a worldwide voluntary organisation, whose underlying remit is to actively campaign on human rights issues.

As part of their global strategy, the organisation promotes specific human rights issues during the course of each year.

One such initiative in 1997 was the launch of the first international campaign to promote awareness of the refugee crisis and the right to protection as a basic issue of Human Rights.

Given the voluntary nature of the organisation, marketing and communications budgets are limited.
