Using MediaZ, MEC compared X Factor across 2009, 2011 and 2012 to gauge how consumer's feelings towards the programme have altered

Since its launch in September 2004, The X Factor has enjoyed nine years of popularity, airing annually from September through to December. The show discovers talent and as of April 2013, a total of 33 number one singles have been released by artists who have appeared on the show.

According to BARB, the average audience tuning in for series 6 (2009) was 13 million viewers....
