Prize Chairman

Charles WigleyCharles Wigley – Chairman, Asia, BBH

A strategic planner by trade, Charles has lived and worked in the UK, Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore in over 20 years in advertising.

This is his second stint at BBH, having started in London as one of their first graduate recruits. Rejoining the agency in Singapore as Planning Director in 2001, he was promoted to Chairman of the Singapore office in 2005 and then to Chairman, Asia in 2008.

A frequent speaker at industry events, he is a strong believer in brands having a mission in life, the importance of fame, and this being the beginning of Asia's time creatively. He is not convinced by the efficacy of pre-testing advertising, matrixed organisations and pleasing multiple stakeholders.

Freddy BharuchaFreddy Bharucha – Head of Marketing, P&G Asia at Procter & Gamble

Freddy is a career P&G executive who has lived and worked in China, India, Europe, Japan, USA and recently Singapore. Before taking up his current role as Head of Marketing, P&G Asia, he oversaw PGT Asia Health Care, and before that led the marketing for P&G Hair Care Brands across Australia, India, ASEAN, Japan, Korea and Philippines. Freddy has industry experience across categories including fabric care, home care, beauty care and healthcare.

Amitava ChattopadhyayAmitava Chattopadhyay – L'Oreal Chaired Professor in Marketing Innovation and Creativity, INSEAD Singapore

Amitava's research has focused on branding, communications, creativity, and new product development. He has published extensively, including a new book, The New Emerging Market Multinationals: Four Strategies for Disrupting Markets and Building Brands, due out in June 2012. Amitava teaches and consults with leading global corporations, and is on several advisory boards.

Frederique CovingtonFrederique Covington – CMO Lead, Microsoft Asia-Pacific

Frederique was appointed as Microsoft's Central Marketing Organization Lead for Asia-Pacific in June 2011. In this role, she leads the marketing strategies across the region for all of the company's offerings across both commercial and consumer audiences. Prior to joining Microsoft, Freddie was with the Ogilvy Group, where she held numerous leadership positions, most recently running its operations in Asia as Managing Partner of Bates141.

Leanne CuttsLeanne Cutts – Vice President, Marketing, Kraft Foods Asia-Pacific

Based in Singapore, Leanne is responsible for driving the growth of the gum, candy and powdered beverages categories as well as leading consumer insights & analytics and driving marketing excellence in the region. Leanne joined Kraft Foods in July 2011. She was previously with GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (GSKCH) in Hong Kong, where she was responsible for the Consumer Healthcare business in North Asia. Prior to Hong Kong, Leanne was Marketing Director of GSK Consumer Healthcare in India.

Graham FewkesGraham Fewkes – Commercial Vice President, Asia, Carlsberg Group

Graham has more than 20 years of brand-building experience in the global drinks industry. He is responsible for developing Carlsberg Group's local Asian drinks operations and their premium international brand portfolio across the region. Immediately prior to arriving in Asia in Sept 2008, he worked as Commercial Director for Carlsberg Group's market-leading BBH business in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the Baltic States.

James HurmanJames Hurman – Managing Director, Y&R New Zealand

James recently joined Y&R New Zealand a managing director. Previously he was Head of Planning at Colenso BBDO in New Zealand until March 2012, before joining Ogilvy Shanghai as Planning Partner. At Colenso BBDO, James was the planner behind Yellow's 'Treehouse' and 'Chocolate' campaigns, TVNZ's 'The Pacific' and Westpac's 'Impulse Saver' – work that was both brilliantly creative and highly effective. He is also the author of The Case for Creativity, a book about the link between imaginative marketing and commercial success.

Dave McCaughanDave McCaughan – EVP and Director, Truth Central Global; General Manager, McCann Japan, McCann Worldgroup

Based in Tokyo, Dave now plays a number of roles at McCann WorldGroup. He is the General Manager of McCann operations in Japan, oversees global strategy for all Johnson & Johnson businesses and is a global director of Truth Central, McCann WorldGroup's global insight and research group. He has been with McCann since 1986, and has worked in Sydney, Bangkok, Hong Kong and since 2003 in Tokyo. He started McCann PULSE in 1995, the longest-running continuous investigations into Asian consumers.

Leonardo O'GradyLeonardo O'Grady – Director ASEAN Integrated Marketing & Communications, Coca-Cola Asia Pacific

Leonardo joined Coca-Cola Asia Pacific in 2006, and leads integrated marketing for the region across Coca-Cola's portfolio of sparkling and stills beverages. Prior to Coca-Cola he worked at a number of agencies in Singapore, including a spell at Saatchi & Saatchi as Business Director. He also launched Beyond DDB, co-founded Rapp Collins and served as partner in the brand-consulting arm of DDB The SpringBoard Group.

Viral OzaViral Oza – Director, Marketing, Nokia India

Viral joined Nokia in August 2008 and is responsible for growing market share, building the Nokia brand and driving marketing initiatives across consumer touchpoints in India. Prior to Nokia, Viral spent more than 16 years with Unilever in India and overseas. His roles there included Category Director, Skin Care for Africa, Middle East & Turkey, and he also led the marketing for Axe deodorant across Asia.

Paul Rees-JonesPaul Rees-Jones – Executive Planning Director, Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne

Paul joined Clemenger BBDO at the end of 2006 as Executive Planning Director. He leads a team that has helped create what is today Australia's and Asia-Pacific's most effective agency culture, as recognized by the Effie Awards for the past two years. Paul's passion is for insight-driven ideas and their effect on how people see and approach life. Prior to Clemenger BBDO, he worked in London, other parts of Europe and Asia.

Simon SprouleSimon Sproule – Corporate Vice President of Global Marketing Communications, Nissan Motor Company

Simon is responsible for the design and implementation of corporate communications strategies, brand management and communications, marketing, motorsport, corporate social responsibility and internal communications for Nissan Motor Company and for Nissan and Infiniti brands worldwide. Simon is based at Nissan's global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan. Simon first joined Nissan in North America in June 2003, and has also worked for the company in France.

Adrian ToyAdrian Toy – Regional Head of Marketing, APAC, Puma

Adrian started his career in General Electric working on eBusiness in various roles before joining Johnson & Johnson VisionCare as Regional Head of Interactive. He then went to media agency Universal McCann, as Regional Director of Interactive where he drove online advertising, search and social media for clients. Most recently he was the Regional VP Marketing for Bausch+Lomb, before taking up the Hong Kong-based Puma role.

Adrian ToyVernon Vasu – Director of Corporate Marketing and Communications, Health Promotion Board Singapore

Vernon's team drives all customer outreach for the Health Promotion Board, with departments focusing on customer insight, advertising, public relations, new media, publications, educational resources, call centre and corporate partnerships. Vernon also heads the Health Promotion Academy and Health Ambassador Network, the organisation's volunteer network. Vernon was named Client Marketer of the Year 2011 by the Institute of Advertising Singapore.

Antony YoungAntony Young – CEO, Mindshare North America

Antony Young is based in New York and heads Mindshare North America. Antony has a global career, holding CEO roles in media and digital agencies in Asia-Pacific, Europe and the US. Previous roles include CEO, Asia, for Optimedia, and Regional Media Director, Asia, for Saatchi & Saatchi. He recently authored Brand Media Strategy, the first book in the US to be published on communications planning. This year he chaired the media and communications planning category of the Jay Chiat Awards for Strategic Excellence.
