Despite the key role banks play in keeping the economy going, banking is something many New Zealanders prefer not to think about. It's surprisingly low involvement.

In fact, many see banks as a necessary evil. There's the fees they charge for the right to look after your money, the profits they make and send overseas and let's not forget that banks were at least in part to blame for the recent recession.
